Claims Officer (m/f/d)

Hanseatic Maritime Health (HMH) is looking for a Claims Officer to join our team in Romania. This role plays a key part in managing insurance claims for cruise ship passengers, ensuring efficient communication with insurers, accurate documentation, and high‑quality service delivery.
Manage the full process of insurance claims handled on behalf of cruise ship passengers, maintaining comprehensive records, coordinating with onboard medical teams, and liaising closely with major travel insurers.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the insurance claim process from initial entry by onboard medical staff to final closure.
Communicate with the claims departments of travel insurers.
Monitor settlement progress until each claim is closed.
Collate all expense documentation and forward it to insurers for recovery.
Monitor and follow up on payments with insurers and passengers.
Ensure full and complete records are maintained.
Establish and maintain relations with key medical assistance companies.
Manage post‑treatment queries from insurers.
Manage invoices and monthly statements to insurers.
Manage and reconcile cruise‑by‑cruise insurance claims.
Chase and manage payment guarantees from insurers.
Maintain contact with patients and family members where necessary.
Be familiar with and comply fully with company policies, procedures, guidance, and requirements.
Collaborate with IT system administrators to develop, test, implement, and maintain company systems, assisting in configuration to meet organizational requirements and ensure optimal functionality.
Perform additional tasks and duties as instructed by HMH Management.
Qualifications & Experience
College degree or equivalent experience; preference for a certificate or associate degree in medical office administration.
At least 3 years’ experience within a large organisation handling administrative duties.
Skills & Competencies
Fluency in English.
PC literacy: Windows system operation, Word, Excel, MS Outlook.
Very good communication skills.
Understanding of general insurance processes (Clubs, Underwriters, etc.).
A self‑starter, reliable, able to work unsupervised, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines.
Strong organisational skills.
Teamwork and cooperation.
Flexible and pragmatic approach to problem‑solving.
